In the world of "Divine Anathema" everything is split into the Materia and the Immateria - the physical world and the world of ideas. People with strong bonds to ideas, "Conduits" can summon "Bridges" from the Immateria to the Materia. These "Bridges" manifest physically as a transitory realm in between and they take the shape of the bearer's inner world. Once a connection to an idea fully realizes a Leviathan carrying the spirit of the belief enters into the material realm.
.
Iskariot is the "Leviathan" of a "Conduit". This "Conduit" was a writer that managed to gain sizable notoriety with his fourth novel which he ironically did not like himself. He fell in love with a woman in a painting, while writing his sequel. Suffering from writer's block and severe depression and shame, he escapes to a bridge in the middle of nowhere. He contemplates jumping. While he a stands on the ledge, in a miracle event, an alien descends from g
the sky. This makes Ethan the first man to make contact with an extra-terrestrial. In the middle of all this mess, he turns around and collapses on the floor. He cries and laughs and cries and laughs at the sheer absurdity of the situation.
.
Iskariot's body is separate from his head. He has a snake-like body that is internally closed like a buddhist knot. His body is translucent and bends light. His head is floating independently from his body. It has the shape of a crow-mask.
Iskariot manifested its conduit's overwhelming wish for solitude. As its body lays on the earth space in its proximity gets warped. It becomes impossible for any approaching person to get past its coiling body.
