Cycle 1 - Blue Object
Going with the theme of glitch it stayed consistent here. I added a lot of random gif footage in there and then glitched it up.
Cycle 2 - Blue Object
Going along with the theme of filmburn and memories, I added lost film footage in this one.
Cycle 3 - Blue Object
The theme of cycle 3 were polarizing opinions, projected in the style of Jenny Holzer. I actually copied genuine 1/10 or 10/10 hate or love reviews and pasted them into the object.
Cycle 4 - Blue Object
I loved the liquid smoke theme.
Cycle 5 - Blue Object
I used the ring here to keep in line with the dancing, entrainment theme. The blue ring pulses with every beat.
Cycle 6 - Blue Object
I like flowers :)
Cycle 7 - Blue Object
The theme of cycle 7 was peaking and skill. The photo bashed in there is of Samuel Reshevsky, a 7 year old chess master, beating multiple adult grandmasters.
Cycle 8 - Blue Object
I actually put in a lot of effort to stay fresh with the color palette. It was defined, that there are Blue and Red objects in the game, but I wanted to keep the palette broader. Otherwise it keeps up with the theme of geometry.
Cycle 1 - Red Object
All red objects were fundamentally associated with trauma. The amount and relation to blue objects created the mood for every cycle. Also Each cycle has corresponding "Red Objects" that fit the artdirection and mood of each cycle.
Cycle 2 - Red Object
In Cycle 2 I wanted to create objects that had a vintage look. I ended up with a kind of film burn effect.
Cycle 4 - Red Object
The art direction of Cycle 4 was mostly black and white. I reduced the opacity of each object here and added to the theme of "liquid smoke".
Cycle 5 - Red Object
The entirety of Cycle 5 takes place in an industrial rave setting. We synced up everything to a 120 bpm beat. Every object, song, light show was synced up to the beat. I wanted to create a deep trance-like vibe.
Cycle 6 - Red Object
Cycle 6 had a theme of recovery and return to nature. It was also the most positive cycle of the entire game. Therefore I made the "X" as thin as possible and also lowered the opacity of the red.
Cycle 7 - Red Object
The theme of Cycle 7 was peaking and mixing. For the peaking aspect I used the sharpest spikes, the entwining aspect is represented by water color effects.
Cycle 8 - Red Object
Cycle 8 had a theme of mechanisms and transcendence. I used overlays of a lot of clockworks and gizmos and the background, as well as a lot of bokeh and chromatic effects on the light here.
